I'm more than okay with trading places, Victor, trust me. Sure your back would thank you too. [ the words don't hold as much as a bite as they could, or as they usually have in the past between them, but if either of them could see the grin he's wearing they might catch on, sharper and more feral than the grin of a man exchanging some friendly banter. he can't help it; he's never had a good relationship with the old man and it's not about to change anytime soon. but he goes quiet afterward, just listens to nate and sully.
when nate finds the journals, he can't help but chime in, pleased at the journals being found, disappointment at nate's discovery that the cintamani stone was never there. figuring out lazarevic's plan makes up for it, and harry finds himself getting infected by the excitement he can hear in nate's voice as he talks, explains things to them. but really, it is exciting - snooping under lazarebitch's nose like this, taking his information, his leads for themselves? who wouldn't enjoy that? he's already climbing out of the jeep, about to say something along the lines of 'fat chance you're leaving me behind' when nate calls chloe back to meet them, until he hears the gunfire.
he doesn't waste any time. he slings the rifle over his back, taking off at full tilt the way nate and sully went. ] Hold on, I'm coming to back you up.
[ he cuts the connection then, focusing on getting to the camp as fast as possible, the sounds of gunfire and yelling in his ear spurring him on. he manages to get there as the battle is getting heated, setting himself up on a cliff overlooking it all and is free of enemy soldiers, taking a breath before he takes his first shot.
down goes one of the soldiers who'd been trying to round around lazarevic's set up to get to nate, a round going right through his head and helmet. he smirks, flicks the connection back on as he lines up another target: ] The cavalry has arrived, gentlemen. You can thank me later.
[ the rifle shot booms over the camp as one of the soldiers firing rockets from the cliff sways, falls limp into the swamp water below. he'd known lazarevic was crazy, but this... these aren't mercs. they operate too well together, use actual tactics, pack heavy artillery. it's like watching a private army at work. that's more than a little concerning. ]
[Nate's still pressed against a wall of the building, hands covering his head as the wood splinters around him, torn apart by the bullets that are trying to get at him. A few of them manage to grave him but really, when hasn't that happened? Then something bursts into chunks nearby and he has to peek his head out to see what's the source. Rockets, really? Shoving himself back down behind the wall, he thinks of what to do, fires off a few shots at least when he notices some of the sentries getting too close to him. What to do, what to do.
Bang. He jerks forward when he hears a shot ring throughout the camp, takes in a few breaths to realize that it's one of theirs, noticing the sudden thump nearby as a result of it. There's relief on his face at that because his eyes immediately go to where the source is, voice reading loud and clear over the airwaves.
About damn time, Sully chimes in from his end. There's another shot from the Brit and one more from Sully who's on the nearby cliff, and Nate can see a path. A small grin and he jumps over the barricade, moves to get to a safer spot.]
Harry Flynn, you flawless bastard. [Which of course, can be read as 'thanks'. And it's nice, knowing that his back's being watched on two different sides as he makes his way to Sully, getting ready to regroup and meet for that higher ground he was talking about earlier. He's not that concerned about what kind of guy Lazarevic is, because if they don't get caught, then why should he? ]
Almost... [Pulling himself onto a cliff face, he fires a few more rounds, ducks behind some sandbags. A glance to Harry on his right, then Sully on his left and he fixes his earpiece. They've managed to lower the number of guards around, and it's only a matter of time before more show up, so logic says...] What do you say we get out of here, guys?
I am more than all right with that plan. Sounds like a sensible one, for once. [ there's a smirk for the jab as he slings the rifle over his shoulder, observes the area once more. there's a lot of bodies and more than a little destruction, and he frowns a little, considers the implications. he doesn't like this, not at all, and he can only be thankful that chloe's going to be breaking off from lazarevic to meet with them. he'd had a bad feeling about the man from the start, why does he never seem to listen to that any more?
he turns away, follows victor and nate to the cavern indicated by lazarevic's notes and the map on the wall. he flashes chloe a smile when she joins them, letting her drop into the cave ahead of him, squinting against the dark and slivers of light filtering in from above. ]
Regardless, Nate's breathing a little easier when they get away from the camp and rendezvous with Chloe. It's good to see that she hasn't been found out, and that she's still in one piece so he's continuing into the ruins, leading the way for one reason or another. It's mild comments before they make it to the drop, and then he looks over to Flynn at the comment - the sigh from Chloe and the silence on Sully's part make it hard not to throw an eyeroll into the fray.]
Cute. You forgot your flashlight, didn't you?
[ And while he's keeping his excitement to a relatively moderate degree, he can't help the little bounce in his step. He drops down, turns and waits for the others before continuing on, turning on the light clipped to his belt. There's more idle banter as they continue along - Chloe talks about the skeletons scattered about with the least amount of disgust for it, Nate comments on how their teeth are all black. As if that wasn't foreboding, he continues deeper into the underground.]
There's gotta be a clue around here somewhere... Whoa!! [Ducking low at the bats, definitely ducking low. In the next room though, he's spotting something really familiar. It gets him back up despite the fact that his heart's beating out of his chest at that sudden surprise (he can still hear the bats in the distance), and then Nate's crouched down by the assortment, making a motion for the others.] Hey, I think I found something.
—In here. [And he's standing back up, a torch on hand.] Mind giving me a light, anyone?
